The Bucket List

Many years ago I took part in the 101 Things in 1001 Days challenge from the Day Zero Project. I completed several challenges but ultimately I could not complete every challenge on the list within 1001 days. I did have some fantastic experiences from the list and I have stories that will stay with me forever.

Because of this I decided to change the 101 Things in 1001 Days list into a Bucket List, keeping the challenges and tasks that I really, really want to complete in my lifetime. That way I will complete all the items on the list within a timescale that I should be able to keep.

Remaining challenges/tasks

  • Learn how to play “midnight cowboys” on harmonica
  • Learn touch typing at 80 words per minute. Final test to include writing text from a page of random book.
  • Be involved in a Flash Mob
  • Have chiropractor do their chiropracting on me
  • Do a LARPing session
  • Bet £1001 on red or black at a casino
  • Code/Programme a product to completion in one weekend
  • Release a full native app for Android and iOS
  • Video record myself for one whole day
  • Write a comic
  • Spend an entire day without vision (be blind)
  • Have a threesome
  • Use 101 bad pickup lines (like “I put the STUD in STD, all I need is U”)
  • Kiss every character costume in a Disney theme park
  • Get a piercing chain from nose to ear
  • Swim with dolphins
  • Hitchhike from A to B (minimum 50 miles)
  • Learn how to roller blade
  • Roller blade in 70s lime green suit, purple afro wig and a kipper tie
  • Design my own tattoo
  • Get a tattoo
  • Write chapter 1 of The Life of Grax
  • Gate Crash a wedding
  • Visit the town of TWATT
  • Make your own ice-cream without a machine
  • Officially break or set a Guinness World Record of my choosing
  • Write and record my own theme song
  • Spend a night homeless
  • Host a zombie themed movie marathon including fancy dress
  • Go on a pub crawl in a town I’ve never visited before. 15 pubs minimum.
  • Brew (drinkable) beer
  • Prepare an animal from slaughtered to edible (no need to kill it myself)
  • 3 Peaks challenge (Ben Nevis, Scarfell and Snowdon in 24 hours)
  • Perform firebreathing
  • Be in zero gravity
  • Learn the ocarina at grade 1 level
  • Find a broken bicycle, fix it up, give it to someone as a gift
  • Support a football team for one whole season – watch 75% of accessible features. Televised for premiership, home games for any other level
  • Bungee Jump
  • Go SCUBA Diving
  • Visit Sweden
  • See the Northern Lights
  • Stay at the Ice Hotel
  • Visit my friend in the USA
  • Gamble in Las Vegas
  • Go to a comic book convention
  • Go to a rock/metal nightclub outside the UK
